After reading and loving “Outsourced” by this same author, I immediately bought more of his books. This one, “2012,” by Eric J. Gates was the next one I jumped into. And “jump” is the right word as the action starts on the first page. One of the reasons I enjoy Gates’ books is because he can take even a normal scene and fill it full of tension. In this book, he weaves together the events of different times into a dynamic plot, which is difficult to put down. Well done action sequences and a surprise ending make this one easy to recommend to those that enjoy thrillers. And, oh yeah, I vote for a sequel! Five stars.

2012 edition by Eric J Gates Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I thought it was great! Will there be a sequel to it?
Another terrific read from this author. Please keep 'em coming! I am so thrilled I happened upon Eric J. Gates!!
It could happen. When you least expect it. I enjoyed this book. It was a little confusing at first going back and forth in the timeline, but I got the hang of it pretty quick. I'll be on the look-out for more from this author.
I liked this book alot. It makes you wonder if it could really happen. There's so many people who hate americans & could be planning things like this. Plus there's so much talk about 2012... people could be planning to make things happen- BAD things.I can't wait to read the next one. He's a good writer & I say keep writing.
Lots of action and destruction, great characters, global adventures, and the end of the US as we know it. A different take on the megalomaniac who wants to wipe the earth clean and start all over again but it works wells.

I liked the Egyptian mythology combined with the other myths about ancient civilizations predicting the end of the world and I liked how the unlikeliest character introduced in the early part of the story develops.

Lots of violent action but no sex.

This book needs a professional editor!
I rated the book four stars, then came to write my review. I visited the authors page as suggested and read his comments about the ending. Personally I felt the ending could go either of two ways, but choose to believe the better of the two, optimist that I am.

There were a few grammatical mistakes, something that happens in nearly every book I have ever read. So that didn't bother me.

What did bother me was the fate of one of the persons that I hoped would die a slow and painful death. It was never disclosed the fate of the Egyptian head of antiquities. A la The Stand by Stephen King, there were little viginettes of people affected without any other relation to the story. I liked that a lot. It kind of made it more personal.

I liked this book enough to give it 4 stars, but not enough to keep it in my library. I do, however, recommend it to anyone trying to decide whether to purchase it.
Eric J Gates puts together an interesting take on the 2012 doomsday topic. However, for a highly educated person, I would recommend ensuring the proper spelling of the name for the country of Colombia. The story did drag in places, and some of the action sequences actually went on a bit too long. Several of the characters, such as Jody and Mark, could have been fleshed out more. I never really got a feel for most of the characters, or was able to become emotionally invested in them.

That being said, Eric J Gates writes well, and there were few editing problems. As this was a .99 download, so it was worth my time reading it. It was a bit short on the thrills part of a thriller genre, but not bad. I'm giving it three stars because, overall it is a middle-of-the-road book. I would not want to pay more than .99 for this book. I believe that the author will improve with experience and I will check out a sequel if he writes one and its not priced too high.
