Simone Beaudelaire and Edwin Stark have teamed up to create a paranormal romance set in the jungles of Belize. When Rachael Monroe travels to Devil's Vale in the heart of the jungle, she was originally planning to find a new species of hummingbird to further her studies and future career. Instead she finds herself with a fiancé tagging along, and the feeling of someone watching her.As the past and the present collide in a romance as steamy as the country it is set in, Rachael will need to decide what her future will be... and if it will include the mysterious Xaman.
With echoes back to the Mayan civilizations in Belize, this story is more than just a romance. A mixture of history, a blending of cultures, and... of course... magic, Xaman tells the tale of a love that resonates through the ages. Beaudelaire and Stark do a wonderful job of bringing this story to live and helping you live the tale itself, from fear to hope to love. Neither completely serious nor a trip through humor, this is a blending that showcases the best of their talents. My only complaint about this book is that it ended, and I can only hope that these two authors continue to work together in the future!

Xaman edition by Simone Beaudelaire Edwin Stark Romance eBooks Reviews
Mayan calendars, fortune tellers, shapeshifters, walls and riddles, time travel, reincarnation, baddies and love scenes of intense sensuality combines with suspense that is complimented by a vivid jungle setting...and all the heroine hoped to find was a new species of hummingbird. Rachael finds a new world of adventure and danger instead, and a mysterious man from a long ago past who's stepped into the present to claim her as his mate.
A good read, this is a layered story with interesting characters. Give yourself some time to get to know them and be transported along with them into the hot and steamy jungles of Belize.
This book left me totally BREATHLESS!!! I really enjoyed the characters, and the setting in Belize!! I have always been interested in Ancient Mayan History, so this story reached out and grabbed me! Actually, by the time I read the first pages, I couldn't put it down. Paranormal books are not my usual genre, but this had so many "elements" going for it!!! There was History, Romance, Intrigue, Mystery, and it was so well written! It honestly did leave me saying "WOW" I want MORE of this story!!! I do hope there will be more books about these characters!! I LOVED THEM, and there must be lots more to share of their lives??? ETERNITY IS A LONG TIME, SO I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE BREATHLESS MOMENTS!!! To say I enjoyed this book would be a total understatement!! The setting, and character descriptions in this book made me feel as though I was right there immersed
As a writer I believe that one cannot write what others have experienced or dreamt about, whatever the inspiration it has to come from the soul and the mind of the writer I think. Simone and her friend have created a beautifully structured love story that goes back hundreds of years into the past In or to come to life again. Difficult but oh so engrossing. And in reading the explicit parts of the story one can almost feel the heat, feel the intensity of the stretching skin, feel the satiny moisture surrounding the mind of one engaged in exploring its interior. Words, after all, provide the best form of intercourse, that being ideas, that man and women can share. And these words share not only ideas but sensations built from ideas. Well done In so many ways. I enjoyed this book tremendously. Even the lulls in the story presaged something to come that kept me a little on edge. Thanks so much for this tale.
This is a story of star-crossed lovers with a twist of paranormal. But before we get to that part of the story we are transported to the depths of a rainforest in Belize following Rachael Monroe, her fiancé Josh Randall, and their guide, Alphonso Montoya, as they make their way through the jungle. We are given an excellent introduction to their characters as well as the location with the descriptive prose. I had no problem immersing myself into the scene.
Rachael is an independent, strong-minded woman who goes after what she wants in life, Josh has invited himself along on this three month expedition to chaperone her, which didn't sit well with Rachael at all. As unexpected events arose, Mayan mysticism and history were brought into play, captivating my attention completely. The plot moves at a good pace as some seedy characters are introduced and take the plot in unexpected directions, not the least of which is the introduction of the devastatingly handsome and mysterious Xaman.
When certain Mayan artifacts spark visions, memories, or dreams in Rachael, she is a bit unnerved but interested in finding out what it all means. Seeking the help of the local curandera, she has no idea what she is in for when a whole new world from the past comes to light. Soon after, Josh's true role in the plot becomes evident. The authors have woven a fascinating tale about past lives and fate surrounded by mysticism of the Jaguar Queen in the Mayan jungle who felt slighted hundreds of years ago.
I think Mr. Stark's and Ms. Beaudelaire writing styles and storytelling meshed well. I hope to see some more collaborations between these two in the future.
FYI Ms. Beaudelaire writes some steamy sex scenes which are explicit but well written. These may not be suitable for some readers. I enjoyed them.
Format/Typo Issues No significant issues.
